Cage Nuts
Cage nuts have two retaining legs on the side of the nut. They are positioned at 180 degrees from each other, which holds the nut in place at the panel edges or the center panel locations. There is a floating square nut which is retained withing the spring steel cage.
These are more economical and easier to install than other heavy-duty nuts which have blindside applications. This nut compensates for poorly aligned holes. The square "Cage" design keeps the nut from rotating during tightening. These are used in sheet metal applications, electrical boxes, farm machinery, rail cars, home entertainment components and heating equipment among other various applications.
